- Result
  
  The culture supernatant of macrophages cultured in the presence of Rokkakureishi "Okaku" hot water extract killed L929 cells (cancer cells) in a dose-dependent manner.The culture supernatant showed L929 cytotoxic activity equivalent to 27.5 units / mL TNF-α.It is interpreted that the Rokkakureishi "Okaku" hot water extract activates macrophages and produces tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), resulting in damage to L929 tumor cells.
- Consideration
  
  Rokkakureishi "Okaku" contains a lot of β-glucan, and from the results of this experiment, it enhances immunity and has the potential to prevent cancer (antitumor). Ingestion as a material and as a supplement during chemotherapy and radiation therapy may also be effective.
